Withdrawal Test
posted by dennisn on March 23rd, 2009 at 12:33PM

Suspicious of the soundness of the banking system, I requested to withdraw a substantial sum from our Key Bank account, leaving funds sufficient to cover ongoing business operations. First they tried to dissuade me, then they stonewalled me, and finally they turned openly hostile.

I was forced to sign a series of documents, including one acknowledging that since I was carrying a large sum I could be the target of a robbery. To enhance that possibility, the teller slammed down the bag of cash on the counter and publicly announced the sum.

Despite repeated requests in the days preceding my withdrawal to get the cash in hundreds, they gave it to me in twenties, making for a bag five times the size and more robber-friendly. When I complained to the bank manager who had processed the request, the response amounted to "take it or leave it."

guy taking out 30 grand without a problem, teller asked him to wait on the side, came back and finished the transaction.   Guy just put the bills in his pockets and walked away.   Man it was tempting to mog him.

I'm guessing it's TD they tend to be the worst bank to deal with.   Employees aren't required to have common sense.

I'm guessing you took out about twenty grand.

I thought it was obvious by the writing style and writing content that I didn't write that story -- it was another MUCH richer CEO or somebody, who got a whiff of trouble from his bank, and either wanted to precipitate the next inevitable bank run and collapse of our incredibly corrupt economy which nobody seems to care about (I posted a poll about the evils of inflation and nobody seemed to care), or just wanted to put his money in other safer vehicles -- maybe gold, or other tangible non-volatile assets.

(The fact that people still use TD really depresses me. It's like after slavery was abolished down south, the vast majority of slaves didn't bother moving to more friendly places -- due to apathy and/or fear of change and/or ignorance.)

Can someone tell me about TD.   This time, I'm going to read what you type in this thread, Dennis.   Promise.

We didn't really discuss much specifically about TD here -- but they are just generally a retarded bank -- probably like all the other "major" banks here, with retarded tellers, and absurd fees, like fining their "valued" customers if they don't maintain a certain (daily?) minimum balance in their accounts -- even though I'm sure they're making shit-loads of profit in wild speculation with the money anyways.

Talking to their online tech support is also absolutely useless: http://dennisn.mooo.com/m...ory.php?sid=2601

But, trivialities aside, here is the real meat in the matter: http://dennisn.mooo.com/m...ory.php?sid=4737

Did they give it to you in a beige bag with a green $ written on it?

Because if so, it was totally worth it.
