Wrong. The joke was that Microsoft thinks that Windows is so broken, that there is no point in trying to fix it, but rather break it (or the installation CDs?), and use something else (paper, or a better OS).

Both of us agree that your interpretation doesn't make any sense. (There is no way a hammer could fix Windows).

Well, that is one possibility. Another possibility is you are incredibly arrogant. Which, really, is far more probable, as you are far too eager to appeal to absolutist ideas. For example, you consistently imply that there is only one interpretation for the joke, your own, without ever having questioned or researched the author's original intentions, without even waiting for the poll results to come in.
