I think he was aiming for his chest

He probably didn't want any visible shot wound from the neck up.   Some people do care about their looks.

The best way to go is by following the Hong Kong tradition: to jump off a building - a popular reaction when stock markets dramatically fall.

Yikes. Jumping is the worst, IMHO. The last few seconds are incredibly stressful. I'm not sure if any pain signals would actually have enough time to trigger on impact, but the anticipation of the pain, I think, would be unbearable. I think the dude was aiming for his heart, and bleeding to death seems pretty peaceful to me. Animals are slaughtered by slashing the arteries in their neck, and they calmly bleed to sleep. Breathing is still possible, which is nice. (Drowning is also stressful because of this stifled reflex.)

How could he have been trying to shoot someone else by aiming/shooting his chest/heart repeatedly? (And why wouldn't he have shot them first?)

I hate how uninformative these articles are. I know you shouldn't jump to conclusions about motive/etc, but *some* piece of additional information would be nice. Surely someone knew the dude and can speculate? Lazy reporting.

Well, I suppose they hinted at it--losing all your money in the stocks would be a good motive. Though it's a pretty stupid thing to do.

I know in India it's common for bankrupt farmers to commit suicide--whether it's due to fluctuating markets, or disastrous storms, etc. Specifically, men. And, really, it's a very common thing for men to do, be it bankrupted "providers" of families, or taliban suicide bombers, or any soldier. And I suspect the reason it's so popular is that they get a lot more respect/sex while they're alive. So, as usual, women are to blame for encouraging this behavior.

Not just uninformative

Some journalists deliberately distort stories.   I don't even trust police investigations, they are lazy asses.   They just want to jump straight to conclusions to save money and time.

I would say most journalists distort stories, since everyone has a bias, and it takes exceptional and rare discipline not to exploit it. But, really, it's unecessary to try/pretend to present an unbiased story. It would be a lot easier and more informative to just read both biased versions of a story.

Aside from planting false evidence, police can't make any conclusions--it's up to judges and juries.

But they are indeed lazy asses for (1) accepting illegally gotten money and (2) enforcing illegal laws.
