Nope. It's been well over a year and the pain of having "friends" openly (proudly?) advocate violence against me still hurts just as much. Perhaps the song was written from the abuser's perspective -- where the abuser (who advocates violence, and ignorance -- for example, the dirty anti-intellectual thread here a few days ago) might forget *his* pain/guilt. That's a lot easier.

I'm not so sure. I hate to ruin the vagueness and ambiguity of the song, but you're still a statist, right?
