Olpc v2

It looks good. I'm not sure how functional this prototype is. But if it's "dual-screen" and "touchtype", it would definitely tempt me. BUT, I would not repeat that bullshit charity again. And it would really piss me off if they don't outsource their distribution, and make it available in, say, canadacomputers.com. It also better not be more than $250CAD.

I can afford to be picky this time around, 'cuz I am already quite happy with my olpcv1. It wasn't the desktop replacement I originally imagined :b, but it's still, by far, the best "netbook" out there that I can see. (Btw, the most important distinguishing factor of a netbook is a *substantially* longer battery life. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, but sinks like a fucking lead brick, IT'S NOT A FUCKING DUCK.)

How would you touchtype on a touchscreen?

Easy--have a virtual keyboard on one half, or whatever, of the screen. I'm not really sure how the lack of tactile feedback will impact typing though :b. I imagine it can be learned. Apple's buttonless touchscreens do it, though, of course, they aren't meant for full-fingered typing.

Speaking of which, do you still support the bailout(s), or have we not taught you anything?? :P

Larry Flynt says that apathy is the biggest threat to democracy. What do you think?

So my fingers would hover over the screen when I'm not pressing anything? It works on the iPhone and other touchscreen phones because you're typing with at most two thumbs, but that's not touchtyping. How would my fingers rest on the home row of keys? And yeah, the lack of tactile feedback would mean you can't really type without looking at the keyboard.
