So long as it is claimed to be illegal, and thus articificially scarce, perhaps. Though the plant is dirt cheap to actually grow and pick.
I really disliked the Star's pandering to illegal political pressure, bending backwards to try to mention that marijuana was not commonly used back then--as if that has any relevance to the illegality of the prohibition.
The ensuing flame war in the comments was also disturbing. It would appear that any article mentioning marijuana starts one. It is disturbing because there is no shortage of idiot government-apologists who truly do not understand their so-called rights.
