Right brain vs left brain

Is http://www.news.com.au/he...6281-661,00.html she spinning clockwise or counterclockwise? And can you convince your brain to see her spin the other way at will?

And any one who says otherwise is a god-dang communist.

If you visualize the movement first, it'll appear that way.

Clockwise originally -- although I think the correlation between that and right/left-brainness is dubious.

I think part of the problem of reversing the motion is the timing -- the brain seems to get addicted to a repetitive motion/rhythm -- I find looking at the image peripherally, and visualizing the reversed motion first, before returning to the image helps.

I remember when I first saw this animation, thinking that it might be a GIF exploit -- that might take advantage of slight timing imperfections to yield different rotations in different browsers -- or randomly changing rotations.
