Dennis, do you honestly have nothing better to do than to start these pointless conversations?? It started off as a http://www.eng.uwaterloo....chan/dennis.html friendly dialogue that you somehow twisted into an argument.

Just to reiterate the points that were brought up (and that you subsequently chose to ignore), believing in God is part of a person's faith. You call it ignorance because you are an atheist. That's fine. Faith is accepting something that you can't completely grasp. Yes, a person who believes in God is voluntarily submitting himself to his faith (at least you got over the whole "the church forced you to believe" thing), but a church member is no less rational in any aspect of his life just because he believes in God.

And as for the potentially extremely dangerous to his neighbours part, you should know by now that suggesting partial, one-sided scenarios is not a good way to argue anything here. For you to make that generalization makes /you/ an extremely dangerous person. I mean, I can argue that a church member is less dangerous because he believes in God, and an atheist is more dangerous because he has no one to answer to. But I won't.

And on a personal note, the next time someone tries to strike a conversation with you, keep in mind that he or she is not necessarily looking to pick a fight. And picking fights with everyone that you talk to is not a good way to make that person want to talk to you in the future.
