outlawing things

Just because they make killing easier doesn't mean they should be outlawed.. Besides I could make a similar case with bats compared to fists (bat will kill faster than a fist). Or knives compared to bats.

Guns are designed to kill things. That's their purpose. Bats are made to hit baseballs. That's their purpose. So you can't outlaw bats, unless you outlaw baseball as well. Similarly, knives have other uses other than to kill. So even though these things have the potential to kill, you can't really outlaw them.

I do agree with you that people kill people. But like Dave said, guns are much more efficient at killing than bats, because that's what they're designed to do. You can hit someone with a bat and then decide not to kill him. But if you pull a trigger (which takes a lot less effort) you may not have a chance to change your mind.
