Greens Support Ban On Water!

"In an email response to a spoof highlighting all the dangers and deaths from water, Green MP Sue Kedgley's office said she was 'absolutely supportive' of a ban on dihydrogen monoxide in New Zealand. "

In fairness, it was just one person who fell for it. She was also female, and thus bound to be bad at science. The spoof was also very craftily written. Non-scientists cannot be expected to derive the dangers of something from first principles themselves -- instead, they look at the conclusions and risk assessments made by other professionals. That newspaper really hates that country's Green party -- it was a low-blow to suggest that Sue's incompetence implies the party's incompetence -- seeing as how this particular view of Sue's has absolutely nothing to do with the party's views. I'm sure there are legitimate reasons to worry about GM-creations -- although they belong in the field of science, not politics.

Is there a particular reason for bringing this up today? This article is about a New Zealand national party ... and it was written in 2001.

I only ask because I saw http://www.youtube.com/wa...ch?v=yi3erdgVVTw something http://www.dhmo.org/ similar on an email thread, also from today. :)
