Political Quotes * General Quotes Power doesn't corrupt. Power inevitably attracts the corrupted Rules for thee, but not for me The government does not have a right to rule us. And if you don't realize that, then they're winning and you're losing The American Government must be very proud to know that there are millions of obedient American slaves (citizens) out there that would gladly lick their boots and do whatever they say. Those slave masters is very joyful to be reminded of how pathetic, subservient, and obedient their subjects are What level of insanity must one achieve to believe that another group of people has a right to rule them? We believe in freedom and charity, as long as I get mine 100% taxation is equivalent to 100% slavery. How could anyone not want to own 100% of all the work and labor that they do? Ultimately, the key to reaching Anarchy is to enlighten people about the value of Freedom and why governments do not have a right to rule us. In order for this to work, the enlightenment must be on a scale that is far greater than the indoctrination that infiltrates people's minds through the public school system, the propaganda that gets circulated everyday within the news media, and the political echo chambers that exist today. Until then, the entire world will continue to live in a dystopia ruled by shady governments. Today's worldwide dystopia is especially bad in the developing regions where there are wars, poverty, and arranged marriages everywhere since the ruling-class governments refuse to free the market. Humanity lives in a dystopia ruled by government. Outside the developed world, there is poverty everywhere that is caused by the state since it refuses to free the market The only thing that democracy is good for is electing corrupt manipulative tyrants that hate freedom. Those tyrants do not have a right to rule us, and their authority is illegitimate, unsustainable, and immoral If the IRS believes that they have an exclusive right to the fruits of your labor (taxation), then they are no different than a plantation owner that believes that they have a right to the fruits of their slaves' labor. Taxation is pure evil Civilized people don't need government A civilized group of people would have no reason to fear anarchy because they would all be able to live in peace with each other A civilized group of people would all be able to harmoniously live in peace with each other without a state The worst case scenario of anarchy is that someone will gain more power than other people and subjugate them, which is exactly what ruling class government is One day humanity will look back on statism and wonder how we ever let it happen - just as we look back on slavery and racism today I've never voted (and I probably never will) and I don't read the news at all (since most of it doesn't affect me), so I'm not politically active the way most people would think. Everything changed when I became an anarchist. I believe that democracy is an illusion and that voting justifies the authority of the state, hence why I don't vote. And I don't read the news because it's all just theater. Most of the stuff running on the news doesn't affect me, so I don't read it Literally everybody preaches freedom and liberty, but the only people who truly believe in freedom are anarchists If I agree to protect you, and you agree to protect me, and everyone agrees to protect each other, then we don’t need a parasitic ruling class of tyrants to boss us around and tell us what to do. The government has got to go There would be chaos under anarchy, so the most logical solution is to put politicians, some of the worst people that humanity has to offer, in charge of everybody else. Never mind that politicians are corrupt, manipulative megalomaniacs that want to take away your freedom Free Markets, Free Societies, Free Minds! As long as the people are armed, they shall be free An anarchist arguing with a statist is analogous to an atheist arguing with christian The best answer to speech that we don't like is more speech that we do like. The free market can decide what speech floats and sinks there are two types of people in this world: those who are open-minded, and those who think they are open-minded The foremost purpose of altruism is to correct the free market when it fails Free markets penalize bigotry The state is nothing more than a group of people who have more power over your life than yourself Creating more laws creates more criminals Laws are stupid When fascism comes to the united states, it will be wrapped in the red, white and blue flag The statist motto is ban things I don't like, subsidize things I do like 99% of the world is against anarchy, but they are all wrong. Believing that people are innocent until proven guilty used to be an extremist position. Wanting to abolish slavery used to be an extremist position. Supporting equal rights for everybody used to be an extremist position. 30-40 years ago, supporting same-sex marriage rights in the US would have been an extremist position. History has repeatedly shown that "extremism" can be a good thing, and I don't care if people think anarchy is "extreme" since it is the moral thing to do. The only way for societies to improve is to relentless pursue superior morals and ethics at all costs, and if radical ideas are necessary for that improvement, then so be it. Anarchy is perfectly reasonable and extremism is an anti-concept. Today's extremism could be tomorrow's popular opinion So many people uphold democracy as a peaceful, objective way of making decisions, even though it has historically had a very poor record of not electing corrupt politicians If you don't like being taxed, then you can leave! It's funny how people will say this and then be upset when companies funnel transactions abroad If you enjoy taxes, you probably aren't paying enough The people that support taxation today are the same people who would have supported slavery during the 1800s. Taxation and slavery can both be used to make useful stuff happen, but that doesn't make either of them moral. They are both pure evil Taxation is pure evil and it is comparable to slavery. Maybe taxation and slavery can both be used to make useful stuff happen, but that doesn't make them moral because they both require oppressing people Taxation is evil / taxation is theft / taxation is slavery Nothing is theft without private property. The concept of theft already assumes property rights I can confidently and reliably win any debate about government authority. Government is illegitimate, inefficient, unsustainable, immoral, and people want more of it. It's terrifying Humans need other humans to rule over them, otherwise there would be chaos, so let's fix the problem by picking the worst humans of mankind to rule over all the other humans Good people don’t tell other people how to live, good ideas don’t require force, and good ideas certainly don't rely on indoctrination for their continued existence Good ideas don’t require force Good people don’t tell other people how to live Prohibition doesn't work. Ever. If only people understood this Immigration Now, Immigration Tomorrow, Immigration Forever Yeah, literally EVERY immigrant that migrated to the United States had to fight for their rights, including even the first settlers since they were fighting oppression from the British. Yeah, literally EVERY immigrant that migrated to the United States had to fight for their rights, including even the first settlers since they were fighting oppression from the British. White people, black people, catholics, chinese, asians, new poor immigrants, women, native americans, jews, japanese, queers, and it looks like that latinos and muslims will be next... The American flag is a symbol of tyranny and terrorism Born free, taxed to death The IRS is no different than the mafia Consent can make literally anything become moral Let married gay couples protect their marijuana plantations with guns If they come for your guns, give them your bullets first As long as other people pay for you to survive, they will demand to control how you live The Americas are so lucky to have oceans to shield them from the rest of the world. This can never be overstated Let anyone do as he pleases, so long as it is peaceful Libertarianism is about maximizing social and fiscal freedoms to the greatest extent possible by minimizing government intervention as long as it does not infringe upon the rights of the people.Libertarians do not support government micro-managing One-fifth of the world's population will always be in the bottom 20% Communist and socialist countries have a rich, powerful 1% too Conscription is slavery by a different name The dark side of nationalism is that it needs an enemy. Nationalism is not only love of your country, but also dislike for other countries War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength None are more enslaved than those who believe they are free The debt that the government racks up will have to be paid by our children and grandchildren some day via their taxes, and those children can't vote. How can a politician claim to legitimately be helping someone who doesn't even exist yet? We refuse the right to refuse service to anyone at any time for any reason Most of modern day political discussion can be summarized as a back-and-forth debate in a narrow range of popularly accepted opinion, that being the ethics of religion versus the ethics of Robinhood Literally everybody preaches freedom, but the only people who truly believe in freedom are anarchists -Myself (2019) When other people talk about freedom, they are never talking about the kind of radical, empowering freedom that I am talking about -Myself (2019) Even if a libertarian candidate wins the election and makes a few improvements, they are still are collaborating with a harmful institution that extorts other people, so running libertarian candidates for office still enables evil to take place to an extent, which is unacceptable Some men grow up in communism and desire freedom, while some men grow up in freedom and desire communism. Some men come from good parents and turn out evil, while some come from evil parents and turn out good. Some men allow themselves to mentally float through life and be controlled and led by others, some men think for themselves and are independent. Some gifted people underachieve while some handicapped people overachieve Don't steal, don't murder, and don't rape Fraud: While you were claiming to protect me form others, someone should have protected me from you There is no other human being who has a higher claim of authority over your life than you. And no group of human beings can legitimately abrogate your authority without your consent, regardless of the size of the majority You don't pay taxes, they take taxes Ni dios, ni estado, ni patrón (Neither god, Nor state, Nor boss) - CNT/FAI Anarchists Oppression is not hearing a word that offends you. Oppression is being told you can't say certain words because you will offend someone else The key to being rich in any free-functioning economy is by participating in an enormous number of voluntary transactions that benefit both sides Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable Hitler killed Hitler, therefore he did something right The Constitution (which is enforced by the regulators) will regulate the regulators. Problem Solved! /s Regulating automation is equivalent to digging a hole with a spoon instead of a shovel. Before the Pyramids of Egypt rose, humanity had anarchy. Within a couple of years, humanity went from anarchy to statism. This is when we went wrong, and this is what we need to get back to. To find out who rules you, simply find out who you aren't allowed to criticize I am a passionate supporter of jury nullification It took several millennia for humanity to finally realize that slavery is evil, so I'm not too optimistic about the future. I'm just way too far ahead on the timeline Government is an extortion racket with de-facto control over a section of land Government obviously doesn't work. If government actually worked, then it wouldn't be infested with corruption, and it wouldn't be responsible for the Holocaust Donald Trump and Barack Obama must be very proud to know that there are millions of obedient Americans that would proudly lick their boots, praise them, and do whatever they told them to. There are millions of people that would worship these tyrants as if they're Gods or something. It's masochism Donald Trump says whatever will get him elected and appeal to his useful idiots, just like any other corrupt manipulative control-freak politician. He must be very proud to know that there are millions of pathetic idiots that would lick his boots for being a power-hungry crook If there was no such thing as objective justice, a government could never be just. If there is objective justice, a government is not needed to do justice. What could I say to you to convince you that anarchy is the best path for humanity? - Nothing. Words are worthless. Make a small utopia. If it works more people will join. Then I will join too If you can't trust people with freedom how can you trust people with power? I love helping people so much that I have to be forced to do it. That’s how much I love everyone. I need to be threatened with prison, because that’s empathy How many people continue to remain in poverty because a socialist chose to buy the latest smartphone instead of donating that money to charity instead? Many poor people continue to live in poverty because a socialist chose to buy the latest iPhone instead of giving that money to charity. -There is a joke trying to be had here, but leaving that aside, the real answer is that buying products you want improves your life in principle, but it also keeps a lot of other people out of poverty by keeping them working It is more effective to point out the violence in communist economies than to debate about which economy gets better results You sound like someone who goes into a job review and doesn't ask for more than what they offer Politicians are corrupt, manipulative, narcissistic control-freaks, and they are willing to take away your freedom for their own benefits. You should be ashamed of yourself for wanting to work as a politician of the American Regime, and I have no respect for you if this is how you choose to make a living The American Regime is an Evil Extortion Racket that bosses other people around by passing arbitrary unreasonable laws. The Regime is also a Terrorist Organization that kills thousands of innocent people in the Middle East. It is also the world's largest Mafia since it steals trillions of dollars from innocent productive people every year at gunpoint (taxes) Contrary to what most people have been indoctrinated to believe from the cradle to the grave, the government has absolutely no right to rule us. There are NO logical or ethical foundations for supporting government rule over the people Social security is literally the biggest waste of national wealth in human history I have both heard and refuted that argument countless times before. If Libertarian outlets like Reason would just publicize this information to the masses, then I wouldn't have to type my explanations out over and over again. They are all too moderate The price you pay for water is mostly the cost of delivery. I keep seeing people aghast than anyone would sell water. They aren’t! They’re selling the convenience of having clean water in a ready-to-go bottle available to you! Don’t want to pay for it? Go get some yourself! Don't you think it would be more peaceful and more effective to talk to these people and convince them that they're wrong instead of beating them up? If they join your side, then that's more power to you and you wouldn't have to beat anybody up in the first place. This is what a civilized adult would do first By working for the government, you are effectively endorsing everything that they do, even the bad stuff Anarchism is the conclusion that no arbitrary authority is required for people to cooperate who wish to cooperate, and it is wrong to force people to cooperate who do not wish to Pick one: 1) The people should outgun government. 2) Government should outgun the people Surrendering your OWN guns in order to "reduce gun violence" means that you are either a dangerous psycho, or an idiot Sadly, convincing people that they should be free is a lot harder than convincing them that they should be enslaved The likelihood of your child being shot by a cop is higher than the likelihood of your child being shot by some "school shooter" The greatest weapon the oppressor has is the mind of the oppressed Politicians are Tyrants, Democracy is Rule of the Manipulated Idiots, Tax Collectors are Mafia Thugs, Police Officers are Nazis, Veterans are Paid Terrorists (unless they were drafted), and Government is the Greatest Evil the World has ever known. I recognize that these statements are very controversial, but we're never going to overthrow the regime unless people are willing to say the morally right things even when it makes others feel uncomfortable Most of the world's problems are caused by governments (regimes) that don't respect the rights of others. Although we live in the most prosperous time in human history, we still live in a dystopia infested with worldwide poverty that is caused by unreasonable government regulations and interference in the free market. Whether people acknowledge it or not, Earth is a 1984 dystopia ruled and oppressed by big brother. Destroying the government would eliminate worldwide poverty, and that is the biggest reason why it is the most important activist cause that we could accomplish "I will never shop at ______ again! I don't support their policies!" -Cool. Will you also stop paying taxes that fund mass murder? Those who resent others just for being "rich" are usually those who, if they got rich themselves, would be selfish elitist pricks People thrive best through capitalism. Capitalism works best in free markets. Free markets only exist in the absence of monopolies. Karl Marx mistakenly blamed capitalism for the consequences of monopolism I used to have the typical tribalist mentality of most other liberals and conservatives, but now I hate both the left, and the right, and everything in between. It's pretty nice actually Eventually I realized that voluntaryism/anarchism is the only political philosophy that completely and unconditionally respects self-ownership, therefore it is the only moral one The problem is that far too many people have never studied ethics. Political philosophy is essentially applied ethical philosophy, and since most people have never learned / brainstormed a consistent set of ethics, their subconscious fills in the gaps for them. Bad ethics will always lead to bad politics My ethics are based on a complete intolerance to aggression of any kind, hence why I am an anarchist Socialism is to charity what rape is to consensual sex Compromising with the left is merely being defeated by the left. They're never, ever satisfied Anyone who praises and defends a political figure and not a political ideology should not be trusted Reality disproves your commie bullshit on a daily basis Democrats are basically Republicans that like welfare Democracy divides people You can't eat the rich until you eat the government As long as economies require confidence, acts of wars will thrive on deceit If you don't defend everyone's freedom, then your freedom is next * Quotes On Voting Democracy is two wolves and a sheep discussing what's for dinner The only thing democracy is good for is electing terrible, lying, power-hungry crooks that hate freedom When you truly understand freedom, you won't have to vote I know better than to justify my enslavement to the state When you vote, you aren't exercising political authority - you're giving it away. Now the corrupt ruling system that has your vote can do whatever they want to you, all under the presumption that you chose for it to be that way. That's not freedom, that's an illusion designed to disguise tyranny Society is never going to achieve utopia by asking a bunch of hicks what they think the government looks like If you ask a bunch of hicks what the government should look like, then you’re going to get a shitty government. That is exactly what democracy does. Tyranny by the majority and tyranny by the hicks Democracy appointed Adolf Hitler in 1933. Contrary to popular belief, Democracy is not the rule of the people, it is the oppression of minority voters by majority voters. Maybe the Jews voted against Adolf Hitler, but that didn't matter. Hitler won anyway and he was able to oppress them once he got into power. Voting is an overrated waste of time and a lost cause. Real freedom is anarchy (which implies no tyrannical democracy) Democracy is not the rule of the people. It is the oppression of minorities by majority rule. Minorities can vote against Adolf Hitler in 1933 and Donald Trump / Hillary Clinton in 2016, and a tyrant that hates freedom will still be democratically selected to sit on the throne anyway. Obviously, democracies never make the best decisions and it is only good for electing terrible people that hate freedom Democracy is tyranny by the majority, for the majority, of the majority, by the majority, screw all the minorities The problem is not the two-party system, the problem is democracy It's almost as if people's memories get flashed every new election cycle and get back to believing the same bullshit that was demonstrably proven false by the fact that nothing substantial changed after the last election The government would NOT let us vote if it actually mattered. Of course their going to do that to keep us distracted and fighting for something that doesn’t do anything to overthrow them I'm smart enough to appoint a master over myself, and I have no right to appoint a master over anyone else In North Korea, you only get one choice. In the United States, you only get two Nowadays there are many, many legislators in representative democracies that “represent” thousands, hundreds of thousands, and sometimes even over a million people. How can one legislator logically claim to represent thousands or hundreds of thousands of different people with completely different political beliefs? They can’t because it is impossible and it is a myth that representatives can legitimately represent all their constituents Democracy is often advertised by its supporters as being a preferable alternative to monarchies and despotism, but this is far from the truth. History has shown that tyrants can become democratically elected, so democracy is fascism in disguise If only they knew the truth If we all vote just one more time in the next election, everything is going to change. For real this time. We'll reform justice system, we'll bring the troops home, the debt will vanish over night, we'll get our freedom back, and we'll kick all the corrupt politicians out and replace them with some people who will actually listen to us. This next election will be the most important one in our lifetimes, never mind that that was said in previous elections. Words speak louder than actions, so we know we can trust the people running To me, an American flag is no different than a Nazi Swastika. The IRS is no different than the Mafia. And Democracy is no different than a dictatorship being disguised as a solution for preventing dictatorships The main difference between an incumbent politician and a new challenger is that the challenger hasn't yet abused power. But that's only because they haven't yet had any power for them to abuse. It's like preferring heart failure to cancer simply because you've already had cancer but haven't yet had heart failure Do you VOTE to have government do things for you that you KNOW would be wrong if you did them yourself? Democracy divides people * Quotes On Ethics Political philosophy is superior to political "science" because it uses applied ethical philosophy. Political "science" is a pseudo-science because it doesn’t consider the first thing that people are supposed to consider when it comes to politics: Ethics Most political science majors never study ethics, even though ethics should form the basis for justifying ALL actions in society, hence why I believe that it is among the most worthless majors offered at most colleges Unfortunately, since most people have never learned / brainstormed a consistent set of ethics, their subconscious fills in the gaps for them. Republicans tend to base their politics off of religious ethics, and Democrats tend to base their politics off of robin-hood ethics, stealing from the rich to give to the poor. They are using political "science", not political philosophy So philosophically speaking, the reason why Republicans and Democrats both suck can be traced to the fact that both of their ethical systems suck too. Ethics build the foundation of any political structure, so bad ethics leads to bad politics Voluntaryists / Anarchists / Libertarians on the other hand, use ethical philosophies based on a complete intolerance to aggression, the best kind to use. Thus, we have the best political philosophy * Quotes By People A man is none the less a slave because he is allowed to choose a new master once in a term of years -Lysander Spooner We have big government due to the mentality of those who believe everything they hate should be banned and everything they like should be subsidized -Austin Petersen If socialists understood economics, they wouldn't be socialists -Friedrich Von Hayek If you look at the drug war from a purely economic point of view, the role of the government is to protect the monopoly held by the drug cartels -Milton Friedman One of the great mistakes is to judge policies and programs by their intentions rather than their results -Milton Friedman Nothing is so permanent as a temporary government program -Milton Friedman Let me offer you my definition of social justice: I keep what I earn and you keep what you earn. Do you disagree? Then tell me how much of what I earn belongs to you -and why? -Walter E. Williams Prior to capitalism, the way people amassed great wealth was by looting, plundering, and enslaving their fellow man. Capitalism made it possible to become wealthy by serving your fellow man -Walter E. Williams The strongest argument for socialism is that it sounds good. The strongest argument against socialism is that it doesn't work. But those who live by words will always have a soft spot in their hearts for socialism because it sounds so good -Thomas Sowell A society that puts equality before freedom will get neither. A society that puts freedom before equality will get a high degree of both -Milton Friedman Socialism states that you owe me something simply because I exist. Capitalism, by contrast, results in a sort of reality-forced altruism: I may not want to help you, I may dislike you, but if I don't give you a product or service you want, I will starve. Voluntary exchange is more moral than forced redistribution -Ben Shapiro Socialism is where the government does stuff. The more stuff it does, the socialister it is -Karl Engels Socialism is the false belief that the state will spend your money better than you would —Vít Jedlička Don't stay safe, stay free -Edward Snowden Speak not because it is safe, but because it is right -Edward Snowden Racism is not dead, but it is on life support -kept alive by politicians, race hustlers, and people who get a sense of superiority by denouncing others as "racists" -Thomas Sowell To say that society cannot exist without “government” is exactly as reasonable as saying that Christmas cannot occur without Santa Claus. Society already exists without “government,” and has from the beginning -Larken Rose "Contrary to what nearly everyone has been taught to believe, “government” is not necessary for civilization. It is not conducive to civilization. It is, in fact, the antithesis of civilization. It is not cooperation, or working together, or voluntary interaction. It is not peaceful coexistence. It is coercion; it is force; it is violence. It is animalistic aggression, cloaked by pseudo-religious, cult-like rituals which are designed P make it appear legitimate and righteous. It is brute thuggery, disguised as consent and organization. It is the enslavement of mankind, the subjugation of free will, and the destruction of morality, masquerading as “civilization” and “society.” The problem is not just that “authority” can be used for evil; the problem is that, at its most basic essence, it is evil. In everything it does, it defeats the free will of human being controlling them through coercion and fear. It supersedes and destroys moral consciences, replacing them with unthinking blind obedience. It cannot be used for good, any more than a bomb can be used to heal a body. It is always aggression, always the enemy of peace, always the enemy of justice. The moment it ceases to be an attacker, it ceases to fit the definition of “government.” It is, by its very nature, a murderer and a thief, the enemy of mankind, a poison to humanity. As dominator and controller, ruler and oppressor, it can be nothing else." -Larken Rose "If you love death and destruction, oppression and suffering, injustice and violence, repression and torture, helplessness and despair, perpetual conflict and bloodshed, then teach your children to respect “authority:’ and teach them that obedience is a virtue. ; If, on the other hand, you value peaceful coexistence, compassion and cooperation, freedom and justice, then teach your children the principles of self-ownership, teach them to respect the rights of every human being, and teach them to recognize and reject the belief in “authority” for what it is: the most irrational, self-contradictory, anti-human, evil, destructive and dangerous superstition the world has ever known." -Larken Rose When I was in high school, I was a Republican. Then I became a Libertarian. And now I am a Laissez-Faire Anarchist. I know that all the facts are on my side, hence I eventually chose to be an Anarchist because I saw how right and reasonable it was. My goal is to write something really persuasive that could enlighten other people the same way I was enlightened over the past 3 years Of course, I don't advocate for immediate violence. I think it would be more reasonable and more peaceful to talk to them and hopefully convince at least some of them that what they're doing is wrong. If they realized that, then there would be no need to resort to violence What the hell are you proud of? - Proud to live in the country with the most intrusive, obnoxious, abusive tax collectors in the world? - Proud to live in a country that has a higher percentage of people in prison than any other country in the world? - Proud to be ruled by a government that has started and perpetuated more military conflicts in more areas of the world than any other in history? - Proud to live in a country with 35,000 automobile related deaths every year? - Proud to live in a country where you have to be 21 years old to drink alcohol? - Proud to have a third world public education system in a first world country? - Proud to live in a country with the second highest obesity rates in the world? - Proud to live the country that has contributed the most to climate change per capita throughout its entire history? - Proud to live in a country with a military industrial complex? - Proud to live in a country where the politicians and bankers have seen to it that you, your children, and your children’s children will forever be their indentured servants, to be forever herded and fleeced like sheep? - Proud to live in a country where the biggest slimeballs on the planet tell you what you can eat, what you can drink, what you can drive, what you can build, where you can work, what you can produce, and what you can think? -- Larken Rose Sound Reasoning, the same process that any rational human being uses to make *all* their decisions. Libertarian philosophy doesn't need democracy. Instead, it uses *sound reasoning* to conclude the following: - Self-Ownership - Non-Aggression - Inalienable Rights - Individualism - Freedom of Association - Free-Market Capitalism - Anarchy As libertarians, we have decided all of these concepts using *REASON*. We didn't need a democracy to come up with any of these great ideas, so why would we ever use a democracy to make any of the ethical or political decisions in our utopia? What purpose would it serve and how would any society ever use democracy to make decisions without relying on the Appeal to the People Fallacy? ------------------------------------------------- > A democratic republic You've already messed up. Democracy is an Appeal to the People Fallacy. The correct way to determine the best society is to use sound reasoning, not a fallacy. > a constitution, a bill of rights Relying on Constitutions and Bills of Rights to protect freedom and human rights will never work. At the end of the day, a constitution is just a piece of paper created by the government to limit what the government can do. If the government had the power to create the constitution and enforce it, then it can just as easily have the power to stop enforcing it or ignore it. And that is exactly why the government has been able to get away with passing thousands of new laws that repeatedly violate the First, Second, Fourth, etc. Amendments of the Constitution and so much more. Needless to say, you're advocating for keeping the current system in power, and the evidence shows that what you're advocating for doesn't work in reality. > and a system of courts to prevent the majority from crushing minority groups with no recourse. That is an unnecessary complicated system prone to corruption. Why would we use a democracy to write the rules of society when we could use sound reasoning, critical thinking, and solid ethics to decide that instead? > both of which would lead to the suffering and death of tens of millions of innocent Americans. False. You have no evidence that anarchy doesn't work, nor do you know how to reason. Because if you did know how to reason, you would use reason to determine society instead of an appeal to the people fallacy. You don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Although you clearly lack critical thinking skills, it's not too late. You can still build some by watching all the videos at this link and applying them to your everyday life: https://www.khanacademy.org/partner-content/wi-phi/wiphi-critical-thinking ------------------------------------------------- On some days, I feel like I live in a world that doesn't make any sense. If I correctly recognize and understand that the entire world lives in a dystopia, but nobody else on the planet recognizes how or why it is oppressive, is it still a dystopia? It is so hard and hopeless for me to have to live through all this, even more so when people ignore me or scorn me for telling them the truth. The dystopia is more obvious outside the developed world where there's poverty everywhere (where most people live), but it exists here too. And it continues to exist because people haven’t been able to identify what it is and what’s causing it (the mere existence of government). ------------------------------------------------- From file listing "commonplace dogma" that I thought was present in all societies. A lot of it is just me not understanding that government exists to solve game-theoretic problems, and memes legitimize the government propagate because they are beneficial to the society's continued existence. Just about everything about democracy and "civic duties" I'm so tired of people constructing castles in the sky about all the things they could do to 'fix' their favorite fallacy. Just about everything dismissing anarchy as being chaotic, disorganized, violent, dystopian, etc. Almost everything dismissing capitalism -Capitalism is largely necessary and beneficial, however, there are a few disadvantages worth acknowledging about capitalism. The biggest two are probably: 1) How capitalism hides the actions/ingredients/process of what went into producing a good/service, and 2) how extremely massive corporations have massive wealth inequality (yet this might be justified under passionate support for contract theory ethics). We should respect and praise the troops. -The troops should all retire from the army to prevent any possibility of further evil doing. The respect and praise isn't really earned and contrary to popular propaganda, they don't keep people safe either. Think about all the other people in academia that could be praised instead for their much more noble work. Their work actually progresses humanity forward. Throughout history, democracy has spread from East to West. First it was born in Greece, then it spread to Rome, then Western Europe, then the Americas, and soon it should spread to China. -This is wrong because democracy is actually very oppressive and regarding tyranny, it has no improvements over dictatorship. The world doesn't need democracy, and neither does China. Anarchy is better. "Taxation without representation" -Taxation is never okay with or without representation. Representation doesn't automatically make taxation justified, but unfortunately this saying gets thrown around a lot since it was an aphorism said by a founding tyrant, and most people still haven't realized that there are no good reasons to support or defend democracy. Libertarianism has never been successfully implemented, so you should not try to implement the ideology because it will never work. -This is a Circular Reasoning Fallacy. The logic breaks down to: "Since Libertarianism has never been implemented, we should not implement it." This Circular Reasoning Fallacy would also apply to slaveowners who would mock their slaves for being stupid, and yet they would punish them if they ever tried to become smart. Watching the news is educational -Not really. News outlets that write opinion articles/columns/analyses/etc are telling their audiences what to think, not how to think. A smart critical thinker that is grounded in philosophy and ethics would reach better conclusions anyway. And many of the topics mentioned in the news aren't relevant to the people digesting the content. I recall that in fifth grade, I wanted to propose a solution where some restaurants either choose to ban smoking in their premises, or separate smokers and non-smokers. Even better, there could be restaurants which allow smoking and restaurants which strictly prohibit it (the only reason why I didn't think of this at the time was that I had a poor understanding of private property rights and propertarianism). However, the teacher and the entire class unilaterally insisted that smoking should be legally forbidden in *all* restaurants in order to protect the common good. It was painted as a yes/no question with no nuance. I mean, if things could only be one way or the other, I would absolutely agree that the class's consensus was right, but even as a child, I could see that such a law did not respect the minority who did want to smoke, despite it being disastrously unhealthy. The public school system however inocculated that the majority always gets what it wants, even if this inconveniences the minority. This more general principle could be applied to numerous other ethical situations as well too. Fluoride prevents cavities and tooth decay -There is actually very little evidence that fluoride is able to do this to any great extent. Fluoride has been linked to brain damage, bone problems, and a moderate increase in the risk of cancer. Fluoride is toxic and it doesn't provide any health benefits. The addition of fluoride to public water systems, toothpaste, and other dental products is probably one of the greatest health concerns of the 21st century. Collective Punishment -Collective punishment is /never/ ethical, although it might be effective at humiliating/bullying the person who is meant to be punished in the hopes that they will finally shape up. In the context of a classroom or a similar instructional social model, it punishes good people that do the right thing, with the rationale being to divert tension from the bad people away from the authority figure and create social pressure against the bad people to shape up. This is ineffective and counterproductive for several reasons, namely that 1. it is unethical to punish good people for the failures of others, and 2. it encourages bullying and creates unjust social tensions. It would also be more effective anyway to punish bad people individually, and punish them harder and harder individually until they change their behavior. In every case where collective punishment is used in the classroom, there is no reason why it wouldn't have been more effective and more ethical to assign harsher individual penalties on the misbehaving individuals. Secular Buddhism is a religion -Secular Buddhism is better described as a negative utilitarian philosophy. Unfortunately, Mahayana Buddhism and other forms have accepted more traditional religious elements like beliefs in Gods and other supernatural deities, so Mahayana Buddhism is definitely a religion in the traditional sense of a religion. Although Theravada Buddhism does not specifically say that there are Gods or supernatural deities, it does detail some supernatural beliefs that are clearly not true. If the definition of a religion mandates believing in a God and Theravada Buddhism does not say that there is a God, then it is not a religion by that definition. -------------------------------------------------
